Luke Chapter 21

1. And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.

2. And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.

3. And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:

4. For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.

5. And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said,

Jesus speaks of the temple.

6. As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

This prophecy was completed.

7. And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?

This is like the verses in Matthew 24 and Mark 13. Where you have two or more witnesses, truth is established.

8. And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.

This is in concert with Matthew and Mark. The verbiage may change slightly, and each subject may be in a little different order, but there may be a reason for it. I do find more wisdom with the three than each alone.

9. But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.

Again I say wars and commotions just allude to things happening as time passes to get us to the end.

10. Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:

Jesus continues with markers, and He tells us these things also so we won't be troubled and think we were in the end times.

11. And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

All have happened and are still happening. In other places in the Bible, it speaks of traveling like a woman that's about to deliver. With sharper pains that happen closer together. This one right after another, one can tell the end is getting closer.

12. But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.

Jesus says, "but before all these"—these as in the things He just talked about, they will lay hands on them and other Christians in their near future. There is a second event like this, but it is for us very soon!

13. And it shall turn to you for a testimony.

Jesus says it will be for a testimony for us concerning our love and devotion to Him.

14. Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:

This is for them and us.

15. For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.

Jesus says He will give us a mouth of wisdom. In other areas of the Bible, the Holy Ghost speaks through us. These things are the same.

16. And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.

It is very important to take note of this; I rank this one about 4 in my top five of what Christians brush or blow off. We have to bring our families together in Him or we're going to have that type of strife.

17. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.

Where Jesus says "hated," I believe by what the word says and alludes to, this is extreme hate. They want to kill you and seek to do it.

18. But there shall not an hair of your head perish.

I believe Jesus is making reference to the ones that die in His name shall not lay dead long and will be resurrected right there, like the 2 witnesses approximately three and a half years later.

19. In your patience possess ye your souls.

I believe this is only stated here like this. Possessing your soul can only be done by Christians. God is over the souls of the lost.

20. And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.

This was really misunderstood in 1947, and in 2023 and 2024 these are not the events spoken of here. This event takes place after the temple is rebuilt and the Antichrist is fixing to go into the temple. Hence the word desolation is nigh; as in the Abomination of Desolation. I am glad you're thinking you're in the end times though. We have a saying in the military: "Stay alert, stay alive." Very useful saying.

21. Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.

Jesus is saying Judaea flee, but we know this is a global event. Similar to Sodom & Gomorrah. Yes, that was God destroying the cities, but the point is Lot and his family not wanting to leave, or they would have been destroyed as well. For us, the populated cities of the world is where the woke will have easy access to find and get Christians; smaller towns and the countryside are more difficult. Make no mistake, this is a survival event for us. The watch is so we're not caught unawares of what they are going to do and His coming. Both events are intertwined. Being prepared is having what we need to do this forced camping.

22. For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

Jesus is speaking here and calling it the days of vengeance. Never in all of mankind's history has he taken up so much evil toward God's children in what will shortly come to pass. "Vengeance is mine, sayeth the Lord," and He will first put a stop to what they're doing and then His vengeance. While He does this, He still looks for people to repent and be saved. He is a tremendous and Great God!

23. But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.

Here Luke says this a little differently than Matthew and Mark. He is not talking about His wrath upon the wicked here. The warning is to His children and the wrath the wicked brings upon us.

24. And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

See, He confirms right here what I'm saying. This is almost an extinction event, except Jesus alone stops it.

25. And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

Jesus is probably referring to the sun and moon going dark and the stars/angels coming down. Jesus reverses the order here, I think, to draw emphasis to the second half of this verse. "Distress of Nations" means a global event. "With perplexity" meaning thought out against us. "The sea and the waves roaring"—the sea is all the lost people of the earth, and waves roaring showing their ferocity.

26. Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

Jesus is talking about so many of His children that didn't watch and prepare and got caught up in this mess. Just like the innocent truck drivers on the news getting surrounded by mobs in the rioting. Just a small glimpse into what is to come. Jesus has given us many glimpses in the past five or so years. Just magnify them in your mind.

27. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

This is Jesus coming, but not to the ground this time—it is what we call the rapture. This is the first resurrection to eternal life, and there was none before except Jesus. The second resurrection is to the judgment and eternal damnation.

28. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

We're currently looking for the war between Israel and Palestine to end. A covenant or treaty of some kind. Everything to get better, the world remarking peace, and the start of the temple being built—and then we know we're in Daniel's 70th week. Not seven years of tribulation; this will mislead you.

29. And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;

This is written or described differently in each telling. His branches, Her branches, and this one is not just the fig tree but all the trees. Hmmm.

30. When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.

Jesus is speaking about being in springtime, and by looking at the trees budding, we know absolutely summer is at hand.

31. So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.

I leave alone, just read and believe. "So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand."

32. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.

This is the same in all three books.

33. Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

I just say thank you Jesus!

34. And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.

Jesus is warning us here. Not to get caught up in the things and traps of this world, and to be aware of the season of His coming and be prepared to take care of your family.

35. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.

Jesus is saying the saved and unsaved can be caught unaware if we don't watch, prepare, and keep Jesus first in all things.

36. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

Jesus tells us what to do. I do so much desire to be accounted worthy!

37. And in the day time he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives.

38. And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, for to hear him.
